What to Expect: Operative Phase

The combined procedure is performed under general anesthesia. For liposuction, small incisions are made in inconspicuous areas under the chin or behind the ears and a small cannula is inserted through the incisions to remove excess fat using suction. Dr. M carefully sculpts the area to achieve a natural and balanced contour.

For MyEllevate, small punctures or incisions are made in the skin, usually under the chin and behind the ears. Using the ICLED light-guided suture system, Dr. M places a suture support system beneath the skin to lift and support the underlying neck structures, including the platysma muscle and submandibular glands.

After liposuction and MyEllevate, the surgeon uses the Renuvion device to deliver helium plasma and radiofrequency energy beneath the skin. This process creates a precise heating effect that tightens the skin and stimulates collagen production. The Renuvion device is applied to the chin and neck area, targeting areas of skin laxity and promoting overall skin tightening. The duration of the operation varies based on individual factors, but generally lasts between 1–2 hours.

What to Expect: Post-Operative Recovery and Care

Following your surgery, you will be taken into recovery, where you'll be monitored until awake. The chin and neck may be wrapped in bandages to minimize swelling and support the new contours. You may experience some discomfort, which can be managed through prescribed pain medication. Swelling and bruising around the treatment area are common and typically subside within one to two weeks. Keeping the head elevated and using cold compresses can help minimize these effects. If any external stitches are used, they are usually removed within a week to ten days. Patients should avoid touching or rubbing the treatment sites during the healing process. If intraoral incisions are made, a soft diet may be recommended to avoid irritating the surgical site. Strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and contact sports should be avoided for at least two to four weeks. Most patients can return to work and normal activities within one to two weeks, depending on their comfort level and the nature of their job. Full healing can take several months, with the final results becoming apparent as swelling gradually subsides. Subtle changes can continue to occur up to a year post-procedure. For a few weeks, you will be instructed to refrain from activities like bending over, lifting heavy objects, strenuous exercises, etc. Protecting the treated area from sun exposure is crucial. The office staff will schedule check-ups to allow Dr. M to monitor your progress and address any concerns.
