Types of Brow Lifts:

  •  Hairline (Trichophytic) Brow Lift: The Trichophytic Browlift lifts and rejuvenates the brow area with minimal visible scarring. By making an incision along the hairline, this procedure achieves a lifted brow position offering natural-looking results and a refreshed appearance.
  • Endoscopic Brow Lift: The endoscopic brow lift offers a less invasive experience for those seeking subtlety with stunning results. Through a series of small, discreet incisions within your hairline, a delicate camera guides the surgeon in lifting your forehead tissues. The outcome? Smaller scars, a quicker recovery, and a refreshed, natural look that leaves you feeling indulged.
  • Temporal (Limited Incision) Brow Lift: Perfect for those desiring a gentle lift, particularly around the outer eyebrows and upper cheeks, the temporal brow lift uses shorter incisions at the temples. This method not only elevates your look but can also be beautifully combined with other facial procedures for a harmonious enhancement.
  • Direct Brow Lift: When significant brow sagging calls for a direct approach, this technique delivers with precision. With incisions placed just above the eyebrows, it’s ideal for those who prioritize effective results over the visibility of scars. While less common, it’s a powerful option for achieving a lifted, refreshed expression.

What to Expect: Pre-Operative Phase

Before your brow lift, you’ll have a personal consultation with Dr. Manolakakis to talk through your goals and what you hope to achieve. Dr. M will take the time to carefully examine your forehead, eyebrows, and upper eyelids, considering your skin type, elasticity, and facial bone structure. This thoughtful evaluation ensures that a brow lift is the right choice for you, with your unique features and desires in mind. Dr. M is here to guide you every step of the way, making sure you feel confident and comfortable with your decision. Once the decision to proceed with surgery has been made, there are several preoperative preparations to consider, including medical evaluations, medication reviews, pre-op lifestyle changes, and recovery plans.

What to Expect: Operative Phase

Brow lifts are performed under general anesthesia. The type and placement of incisions depend on the chosen brow lift technique. Dr. M lifts the forehead skin and underlying tissues, removes or repositions fat, and tightens the muscles as needed. Excess skin is trimmed away, and the remaining skin is re-draped for a smoother, more youthful appearance. The incisions are closed with sutures or surgical staples. Dr. M. may also use skin adhesives or special clips. The duration of the operation varies based on individual factors, but generally lasts between 2–3 hours.

What to Expect: Post-Operative Recovery and Care

Following your surgery, you will be taken into recovery where you'll be monitored until awake. Applying cold compresses can help reduce swelling and discomfort. You may experience some discomfort which can be managed through prescribed pain medication. Swelling and bruising around the forehead and eyes are common and typically subside within two weeks. Keeping the head elevated and using cold compresses can help minimize these effects. In some cases, dissolvable sutures may be used and will dissipate on their own. Non-dissolvable sutures and staples are usually removed within a week to ten days. Patients should avoid touching or rubbing the incision sites during the healing process.

Full recovery time varies among individuals, but most resume usual activities within 2–3 weeks. For a few weeks, you will be instructed to refrain from activities like bending over, lifting heavy objects, strenuous exercises, etc. Protecting the forehead from sun exposure is crucial. Patients should wear hats, sunglasses, and apply sunscreen to the forehead when outdoors. The office staff will schedule check-ups to allow Dr. M to monitor your progress and address any concerns.
