How is Renuvion Performed?

Renuvion is a minimally invasive procedure designed to help tighten and rejuvenate the skin, and it’s typically performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia or sedation. While the steps of the procedure may vary depending on the area being treated, the process usually follows a similar path:

First, dilute local anesthesia, known as tumescent anesthesia, is gently injected into the face and neck area. This not only makes the procedure more comfortable but also helps Dr. M. precisely place the necessary instruments. Small incisions are made in discreet areas—one under the chin and two near the earlobes—to ensure minimal scarring.

Through these tiny openings, a thin tube called a liposuction cannula is inserted to remove any excess fat. The amount of fat removed depends on the individual’s needs. Afterward, the Renuvion probe is carefully placed beneath the skin. This probe delivers a combination of helium gas and radiofrequency energy, creating a controlled heat effect that tightens and contracts the skin's collagen fibers, leading to smoother skin and an improved texture.

Once the treatment is finished, any remaining fluid may be gently drained, and the incisions are closed with either sutures or adhesive strips. Following the procedure, it’s normal to experience some swelling, bruising, or mild discomfort.

These effects typically subside within a few days to weeks. While you’ll likely notice some improvement immediately, the results will continue to enhance over the coming months as your skin undergoes collagen remodeling. Full results can take up to 9 months to fully develop, leaving you with firmer, more youthful-looking skin.
