What is a Full Facelift?

A Full Facelift is a comprehensive surgical procedure that addresses visible signs of aging across multiple areas of the face. Unlike more limited lifts, it refines the midface, jawline, and neck simultaneously, producing a natural-looking result that stands the test of time. At Advanced Facial Surgery, each procedure is highly customized to the individual’s anatomy and aesthetic goals, ensuring results that feel refined, elegant, and completely natural.

What to Expect: Pre-Operative Phase

Before your facelift surgery, you’ll be invited to an intimate, one-on-one consultation with Dr. Manolakakis, where your aspirations and desires for the procedure will take center stage. In this luxurious and private setting, Dr. M. will carefully assess your facial anatomy and skin condition with the utmost sensitivity, ensuring that every detail aligns with your unique vision. This personalized evaluation is designed to make sure you are not only a suitable candidate, but also to craft a customized plan that perfectly harmonizes with your beauty, setting the stage for a truly transformative experience. There are several other preparations to consider, such as medical evaluations, medication reviews, pre-op lifestyle changes, and recovery plans.

What to Expect: Operative Phase

Facelifts are performed under general anesthesia. Dr. M will make discreet incisions around areas like temples, ears, chin lines, etc. depending on the type of lift (traditional, mid-face, or neck lift). The underlying tissues are repositioned, excess fat removed and skin redraped. The incisions are closed with sutures and staples. In most cases, dissolvable sutures are used. The duration of the operation varies based on individual factors but generally lasts between 3–6 hours.

What to Expect: Post-Operative Recovery and Care

Following your surgery, you will be taken into recovery where you'll be monitored until awake. You may experience some discomfort which can be managed through prescribed pain medication. A compression garment or dressing may be necessary post-surgery. Follow Dr. M’s guidance on how to wear/when to remove. Swelling and bruising are common after-effects that usually subside within a few weeks. In some cases, dissolvable sutures may be used and will dissipate on their own. Non-dissolvable sutures and staples are usually removed within a week to ten days. Patients should avoid touching or rubbing the incision sites during the healing process.

Full recovery time varies among individuals, but most resume usual activities within 2–3 weeks. For a few weeks, you will be instructed to refrain from activities like bending over, lifting heavy objects, strenuous exercises, etc. The office staff will schedule check-ups to allow Dr. M to monitor your progress and address any concerns.
