Age begets wisdom — and wrinkles. As you get older, your body’s collagen and elastin levels decrease. That’s a problem because these two proteins play a critical role in your appearance. Collagen, the primary building block for dermal tissue, helps your skin stay strong, toned, and supple. Elastin provides your skin with stretchability without losing its tautness in the process.
With the reduced amounts of these proteins that come with age, you notice more lines and looser skin. Ultimately, the passing of the years can mean skin that makes you look older than you feel.
Fortunately, at our Advanced Facial Surgery offices in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, and Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York, Manolis Manolakakis, DMD, FACS, offers two minimally invasive skin tightening: FaceTite and Myellevate.
With FaceTite treatment, he provides a safe, easy, and highly effective option for anyone who wants to reset the clock without having to go under the knife.
So how does FaceTite, a “one-step mini facelift,” work? Let’s take a look.
The science behind FaceTite skin tightening
Dr. Manolakakis has chosen to offer FaceTite because it’s a revolutionary skin tightening and facial contouring method. With this treatment, he can improve mild-to-moderate skin laxity anywhere on your lower face and neck.
He creates extremely small incisions in your skin and inserts the FaceTite probe in order to deliver controlled, uniform heat to the deepest layers. These targeted energy waves cause a deep thermal reaction that kickstarts the production of fresh collagen and elastin.
And unlike other nonsurgical skin-tightening options, FaceTite is so effective that you’ll only need one treatment. With a single visit to either of our offices, you can achieve tighter, smoother skin and a more youthful facial profile.
What to expect with FaceTite
FaceTite is an in-office, outpatient procedure. With just an oral sedative and a local anesthetic, Dr. Manolakakis keeps you comfortable from beginning to end.
The oral sedative ensures you don’t feel any discomfort when the doctor makes three tiny incisions. He places the incisions as follows:
- One along the crease in front of your ear
- One behind your earlobe
- One under your chin
The incisions are so tiny, they don’t require stitches. Instead, Dr. Manolakakis closes them with surgical glue. What’s more, they won’t leave any visible scars.
Next, the doctor injects a local anesthetic under your skin, ensuring your complete comfort during treatment.
The FaceTite device looks much like a narrow, V-shaped probe. Dr. Manolakakis inserts the thinner side of the probe, or cannula, into the previously mentioned incisions, while the wider side of the probe (the electrode) sits on the surface of your skin.
Once he activates the device, radiofrequency (RF) energy flows between the internal cannula and the external electrode. This causes two things to happen. First, the cannula generates internal energy, liquefying fat cells, and triggering deep collagen and elastin remodeling. At the same time, the electrode generates external energy, stimulating surface collagen renewal, and elastin contraction.
While all of this happens, Dr. Manolakakis closely monitors the energy exchange using advanced computer software that takes real-time measurements as the FaceTite treatment works. Ultimately, this means that FaceTite is just as safe as it is effective.
Next-to-no downtime and continually improving results
The downtime from a FaceTite treatment usually lasts no longer than a few days.
In fact, the FaceTite treatment itself speeds your recovery. The heat generated by the tip of the internal cannula coagulates nearby blood vessels, minimizing your discomfort after treatment.
You’ll notice that your skin looks tighter, smoother, and more radiant in the days, weeks, and months following treatment. These results improve as the collagen remodeling and elastin renewal processes continue to unfold.
Most FaceTite patients see impressive results within six months of treatment, but your results may continue to improve for up to a year.
